电视好事还是坏事的英语作文
TVBlessing or Curse?
In today's world, no other invention has had such a profound impact on people as the television. Engulfed by TV screens, absorbing dramas, well-crafted programs, one might easily conclude that television is a genuine blessing to human society, offering an abundant flow of entertainment and information. However, just as a coin has two sides, the television also brings negative effects, despite its convenience and helpfulness.
To start with, television makes people more passive than before. Everything on TV is ready-made, leaving no space for audience initiative. The news has been carefully edited, dramas well-shot, programs rehearsed, so all you need to doand all you can dois to sit on a comfortable sofa and look at the screen. While many find this experience enjoyable, the undeniable truth is that people are becoming more passive simply because there is no interaction and no effort required from them.
Moreover, television contributes to the fact that people are increasingly distant from each other. As most of our free time is taken up by the activity of watching TV, we can no longer find enough time to visit friends, call on relatives, or go to interesting places. This is also true within families; parents and children and other members are less close to each other because family get-togethers and conversations are often disrupted by TV. When one member is watching TV, he expects others to keep quiet.
Of course, I am not denying the great convenience and enormous benefits that television brings us. Television is a window to the world, providing us with a vast array of information and entertainment. However, in order to ensure that television remains a true blessing to us, we should strive to avoid its negative effects. We should strike a balance between enjoying the benefits of television and limiting its potential to cause harm. By doing so, we can ensure that television remains a positive influence in our lives.
